Arrowheads have been found on the Peaceful Waters property suggesting that it was likely used by local Indian tribes due to its convenient location by the Nolichucky River which provided good fishing, fertile soil and a safe elevation above possible floodwaters.
Subsequently in the 1800’s, it was believed to have been a stage coach stop where weary travelers could rest for the night after crossing the river.
Records show this area to have been deeded as far back as the 1800’s. The current farmhouse was built in 1900 with a deed filed for a 116 ½ acres in 1902.
The original farmhouse, now converted to Peaceful Waters Bed & Breakfast, has been fully restored and renovated with its historic character intact. |
